Change the port numbers your phone uses

Changing your port numbers to 8060

One of the most common reasons for issues related to:

  • Incoming or outbound calls not working
  • Your phone losing registration
  • Inbound or outbound calls being dropped

Is caused by the way that modern routers modify and in some cases block voice over IP traffic.

You can get round this issue by changing a few basic port settings on your phone. Unfortunately, this is different for every type of phone. We've recently updated our configuration guides to include the information on using 8060 as the main port number (rather than the default of 5060 for VoIP).

Check the configuration guide for your phone and find any reference in the guide for your phone to the number 8060 (such as 8060 or and make sure these are set on your phone as recommended in the guide.
