Following a service outage this morning, caused by a third party DNS provider, some customers are continuing to experience issues caused by the earlier issue.

This is being caused by some ISPs caching DNS records for longer than they should be retained.

If you are still experiencing issues following reboot of your router / phones, then please either get in touch with us, or alter your phones to register against our alternative domain (sipb.soho66.co.uk) rather than the default (sip.soho66.co.uk).

Some instructions for achieving this on the more common handsets are below.

Siemens Phones

  • Press the Menu button on your handset.  Select "Settings", then "Base", then "Local Network", then scroll down to "IP Address".  Make a note of the IP address that is shown on your screen.
  • On a web browser that is connected to the same network as the phone, type the IP address into the address bar and press Enter.  You should be presented with a Siemens login screen.  The default password is "0000" (That's 4 zero's, without the speech marks)
  • Once you have logged in, click "Settings" at the top of the page, then "Telephony" down the left hand side of the page.  You will then see a number of VoIP accounts listed, one of which will be your Soho66 account.
  • Click "Edit" next to your Soho66 account, followed by "Show Advanced Settings" at the bottom of the settings screen.  You should see three servers (Domain, Proxy Server, and Registration Server).  Change all three from sip.soho66.co.uk to sipb.soho66.co.uk and click "Set" at the bottom of the page.

Linksys Phones

  • Press the Page button on your phone, then scroll down to "Network" to reveal the phones IP address.  Make a note of the IP address that is shown on your screen.
  • On a web browser that is connected to the same network as the phone, type the IP address into the address bar and press Enter.
  • Click "Admin Login", followed by "Advanced" at the top right hand side of the page.
  • Click "Ext 1" to change the settings for the first account on your phone (if Soho66 is configured as the second accound, then click Ext 2).
  • About half way down the page is a setting for "Proxy", which contains sip.soho66.co.uk (or sip.soho66.co.uk:8060).  Change the sip.soho66.co.uk for sipb.soho66.co.uk (leaving the :8060 present if it's there already)
  • Click "Submit All changes" at the bottom of the page.

Grandstream Phones

  • Press the Menu button on your handset and select "Status".  The IP address of your phone will be displayed on the screen.  Make a note of the IP address.
  • On a web browser that is connected to the same network as the phone, type the IP address into the address bar and press Enter.  The password for Grandstream phones is "admin" all in lower case, without the speech marks.
  • Click "Account 1" (on some phones there may just be the one account, so click "Account").
  • Near the top of the page is a setting for "SIP Server", which contains sip.soho66.co.uk (or sip.soho66.co.uk:8060).  Change the sip.soho66.co.uk for sipb.soho66.co.uk (leaving the :8060 present if it's there already)
  • Click "Update" at the bottom of the page, followed by "Reboot Now" when prompted.
